UMRAO HOSPITALS’ TELEMEDICINE CENTRE LAUNCH

Umrao Hospitals announces the launch of its Telemedicine Facility to further expand the scope of clinical workflow. It is yet another realization of the vision of the chairman, Mr. Muzaffar Hussain, towards a healthier society. He also inaugurated this new age facility.

Dr. Ruchira Marwah, the Head of Imaging and Radiology at Umrao Hospitals discussed some of the CT scans done in the hospital with Dr. Sanjay Shah, consulting radiologist in USA. Dr. Shah has made an arrangement with a radiologist of Cleveland Clinic for consultation of the cases at Umrao Hospitals. This would help to get expert opinions on complicated cases done in the hospital by various sub-specialists sitting in USA. The latest PACS system installed in the hospital enables to connect with the clinicians across the globe in addition to making the hospital an entirely filmless facility.

Telemedicine is the seamless adaptation of information technology to the healthcare delivery system to improve the efficiency and quality of care by reduced costs and errors. The dream has come true by the combined efforts of the CEO - Dr. Ashish Banerji and the head of Imaging and Radiology - Dr. Ruchira Marwah. Through computer software designed for information transfer, patient’s history, the reports of diagnostic tests including images of X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, and CT scans can be digitalized and sent to the linked destination. This helps in prompt accurate diagnosis for early treatment of the patients by making right information available to right people anywhere, anytime. It can help cover vast arrays of clinical medicine since doctors sitting at one place are able to diagnose and suggest treatment to remotely placed patients. It holds immense potential specially in handling emergency cases when availability of medical experts may be an issue.

One doctor can provide solutions to multiple hospitals, sitting in one place. There are very few centres in the country which have this facility and today Umrao Hospitals is one of them. Umrao Hospitals would also be keen to provide radiological expertise to remote and rural centres in India and abroad for effective decision making. The Telemedicine facility in addition to helping clinicians and serving patients better, would also serve as an important tool for continuous medical education at national and international level by conducting online seminars and meetings through video conferencing. Viewing and directing online surgeries and working on various research projects would be just a click away through this state-of-the-art, web-based solution. In fact, Umrao Hospitals was also the first to showcase live cardiac surgery workshop for all the doctors. This new facility is a continuation to Umrao’s relentless pursuit for medical excellence.
